Who Made Happy Wheels: Jim Bonacci and Fancy Force

Happy Wheels was developed by Jim Bonacci, and Fancy Force is his own company, acting as publisher everywhere the game appears. Steam states it most plainly: Developer Jim Bonacci, Publisher Fancy Force. The official about page confirms the company in the first person: “Fancy Force is my actual company name and the domain I’ll eventually use”.

Who else is involved

The official about page does not say much, but it answers the common questions. It lists four addresses by function: Jim Bonacci himself, Jason Schymick, who signed the 2016 iOS update note, advertising enquiries, and server administration handled by Kittenswolf. Official news posts add two collaborators: Goodboy Digital in London, who handled the JavaScript port, and the community admin who maintains the Discord and the level tooling.

That adds up to one person directing development, a few long-term collaborators on the port, community and infrastructure. The developer has never published a full team list or a headcount, so any claim about how many people work at Fancy Force has no source behind it.

Is he still working on the game

Yes, and it is on the record. An official post from 28 December 2020 reads: “Yes, my full time job is still developing the sequel. No, I am a slow recluse and will not share anything.” The same post notes that the JavaScript and Steam versions were handled by outside collaborators while he concentrates on the sequel.

Why “the creator died” rumours keep appearing

They come from the same place: he rarely appears in public, does not post day-to-day on social media, and has said outright that he will not show work in progress. He attributes it to temperament in his own words, “I am a slow recluse”. Threads like “is the creator of happy wheels dead?” on Reddit reflect how little information there is, not a fact.

Where to report a problem

The official about page links a bug report form, and Discord is an officially recognised place to give feedback. That server became official in 2018, according to the news post, which also credits it with improving level moderation tooling. The official email addresses belong to the game’s side of things; this site’s address is support@happy-wheels.wiki, and the two should not be mixed up.
